AE CS5 giving me short RAM previews
So i have both AE CS4 and CS5 installed on my Win7 machine
a pretty powerful machine with a solid state C drive and
12 G of RAM
In CS 5 my ram previews max out at 3 seconds but in CS4 they go much further..
e.g. i setup a new project and comp and to a solid layer i add
CC particle world…i set the working area to 10 seconds and try this
in both CS4 and 5
CS4 previews the entire 10 seconds..no problem
CS5 previews maybe three seconds maximum…
What am I doing wrong here??Thanks

Sounds like your memory preferences might need to be checked in CS5.

that was the first thing i checked…i assigned 8 GB of RAM just for AE and still cant get the ram previews going normally?

in cs4 it was more straight forward… you had the little slider to move ram from the cpus to ram previews, but that isn’t there in cs5.
you might try decreasing the amount of ram for each cpu and/or decreasing the number of cpus used for multiprocessing. i have a feeling that since cs5 can address a lot more ram than cs4 could, that the cpus are grabbing more ram available and leaving less for the ram previews.
