AE CS4 on new 13″ MBP?
Posted by Chadwick Shoults on June 17, 2009 at 2:58 amHas anybody ran AE CS4 on the new little 13″ macbook pros? I’m thinking about getting one as my new Adobe machine and curious if anybody has loaded it on one yet.

June 17, 2009 at 3:05 pmI’ve run it on the MacBook from 2 generations ago (black) and it works ok. If you have plug-ins that use OpenGL to speed up their rendering it might not work.
It is very difficult though to work at size screen with all the menus.

i don’t think you’ll have much trouble running it, just don’t expect it to run like a macpro.
also, the 13″ screen may seem a bit cramped…. there are lots of setting panels in ae, but if you need the system to be compact you can work with creating several workspaces in ae to help your workflow. also apple’s ‘spaces’ may help out too.
one nice thing the 17″ has is the express card slot, which is quite valuable for serious video editing (you could get a sata2 card and run a sata2 raid with that slot), but for ae, it’s a bit less important.
however, if you don’t need compactness or portability and this is your main machine, i’d really try to go with a macpro. even an older used/refurbished macpro will out perform a new mbp.
