AE CS4 memory problem, it’s using all my hard drive space
Hi,
I’m having some memory issues when rendering from AE CS4. I suspect it may be the multiprocessor preferences, but basically when I’m rendering out a file, it will render quite quickly until it hits 13% of my available RAM (I have a macbook pro dual 2.4 with 4 gigs of RAM) and then starts slowing down considerably. And it eats through my hard drive space – 20 gig gone in a minute. I assume its paging to virtual memory or something.
I have set it to use 1 GB per processor and to keep 1 GB for other applications.
It’s becoming quicker to let it render for a bit until it hits the slowdown, then stop the render, wait for it to re-allocate my hard drive space back and render again.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on?

Leaving 1 GB of RAM free for other applications may be a little optimistic when you have 4 GB. Remember it’s recommended to have about 2 GB per core, so you may want to lower the amount you leave free for other apps.
