AE CS3 does not recognize an increase in available RAM. I increased my ram to 4GB. Then, RUN>C:\boot.ini> changed entry to read: /NoExecute=Optln /4GB. Restarted . I know that XP SP2 only recognizes 3.6GB of the 4GB installed. When I run AE CS3 it still shows 2.0 GB as max ram under preferences Memory & Cashe.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,

    Clif

    It’s the 3GB switch,

Even with the 3GB switch, a single program is still limited to 2GB. Thats where the multiprocessing comes in hand, as AE will launch additional processes in the background which can also use up to 2GB of ram.

under XP32 can use 3GB Ram per instance using the 3GB switch !!

    XP32: AE uses 2GB/instance
    XP32/3GB switch: AE uses 3GB/instance
    XP64: AE uses 4GB/instance
    OSX: AE uses 3GB/instance
