I’ve been using AE 7 to key HD footage (DVCPRO HD 960×720 1.33) without issue. However, when I attempt to use the same footage with the same setting in AE 8 it looks pixelated. Any ideas?

I don’t see this. Are you sure you have everything setup properly? Did you drag a piece of footage onto the new comp button to make a new comp that matches your clip’s settings?

No. I am opening an older AE7 session/composition in AE8. The footage looks and keys great in AE7. However, when I open the session in AE8 it becomes very pixelated.

As a test, make a totally new project, import one of the DVCPRO HD files and try again.

it sounds to me like you PAR is messed up somewhere.

    Picture Aspect Ratio.

No. We’ve accounted for that. Take a look at this image:
    https://www.sbimedia.com/demos/AE/AE7AE8Comparison.jpg

It shows the effect of “keyed”material in AE8 VS. AE7.

Same settings, same plug-ins, same footage, same frame.

Are you using keylight? There is an update to keylight for AE CS3. Try that.

    It’s 1.2v6 specifically for AE CS3.

Also, have you tried ‘rekeying’ the footage in CS3 and see ing if your result is any better?

Are you using the full release of CS3 or the CS3 Free Preview? The preview had some quicktime issues & issues with footage from AE7 projects.

No. Full version. CS3 Production Premium. Ordered it at NAB in April. We can’t figure this one out.

    Did you update keylight?

DId you try with a brand new project, new import of footage and a new instance of keylight?(basically don’t restore anything from AE7, start fresh with CS3).
