It is my understanding that you can use older plugins written for PPC with the new CS3 version of AE, but it will make the entire app run under emulation.

    is this true?

Does it only run under emulation if you USE the plugin, not just have it installed?

i would like to have some of my old plugins (not yet universal Binary) on hand in CS3, but only want to take the hit when I use them.

I hope someone knows the answer to this.

    thanks!

It’s my understanding that they’ll work fine on a PPC, but you must run AE in emulation (open with rosetta) on a Mac Pro. I haven’t gotten my copy to test yet, but all of the CC effects and Keylight have been updated and run fine in CS3.
