I’ve been taking clips from FCP into AE to use Denoiser. This workflow worked smooth and effortlessly for the first few clips. Now for no apparent reason, every time the render bar get’s to the last frame, it freezes and I have to Force Quit or it just stays frozen. After I force quit the program won’t open it stays on the AE logo screen like it’s trying to open. I have to restart my computer and it will open, but then the whole thing happens over again when I retry. I tried exporting the clips again in case it was corrupt. No change. I tried trashing my preferences. No change.

What’s going on? What do i do? I have to deliver this today and half the project has noisy clips!?!

    Hey Dave

I don’t imagine processing or memory is the issue. It’s such a small task that the computer handles seamlessly until the end of the render. Seems like a glitch.
    Here are my specs though:

    Macbook Pro 10.6.8
    8GB Ram
    AE CS5.5 (just says 10.5)
    Stock card for the computer
I do not have Render Multiple frames enabled
2GB available for other apps. 6GB for AE.
Footage is in Pro Res 422 and I’m exporting the same. Also tried exporting Lossless and same thing

how long is it taking to render? Do you have auto save on? within a lower interval than the render time?

All I can think of is some disk problem on writing something on the file, have you tried changing export locations?

    No Autosave.
Tried an export just now to a different disk. Same issue.

Do you think I need to reinstall? I bought it with Production premium package. What’s the process for safely uninstalling and reinstalling??

Are you current on your version of Ae and the plugin?

Might I suggest rendering to an image sequence to see if that helps and try to narrow down the issue?

I agree with Walter’s suggestion to render and export to an image sequence to see if that still causes the problem. Even if it does, you’ll have most of your frames rendered.
