  • AE crashes when jpg is used.

Posted by Danny Winn on May 1, 2009 at 2:46 am

I just installed the newest version of CS4 and while testing out AE I noticed that everytime I add a picture (jpeg for background for greenscreening), AE crashes and has to shut down.

Has anyone experienced this? If so is there a fix? What should I do?
I use a pc with 6Gigs ram 2.6G duelcore pentium (brand new)

    Thanks

Is the jpg an RGB or CMYK format? Pull into Photoshop and look at the file. Make sure it is RGB…

    Hey Todd,

I found out last night after some digging that if you turn the “AE_openGL” preference Off, that it would stop the crashing, and it did (for now).

Which begs the question, why does OpenGL even exist since most peoples Computers crash with it set to on.

I’m not real sure what the setting even does because everything looked great once it was off. Maybe you know.

    Thanks for responding

    Danny
