AE Crash when changing memory preferences on MAC PRO 8 Core
Hi All,
I have a new Mac Pro 8 cores with 16 gb, 1 hard drive of 650 GB (system) and 2 more of 1 tb that I use for footage and scratch respectively.
Every time I try to change something in the preferences for Memory & Multiprocessing I get the beach ball spinning forever!Right now, my settings are stuck to this:
Ram to leave for other apps: 2GB
Render multiple frames simultaneously: Enabled
Minimum allocation per CPU: 0.5 gb
Actual Cpu to be used: 16
CPU to leave for other applications: 0I want to change this settings to leave 2 cores free for other apps, and to use 2 GB per processor (which will result in only 6 processors working anyways.)
No matter what I try to change, any setting will crash AE.
Any suggestion? I’ve read several of your forums, I know most of the tips to make things work faster in AE.
I think this problem is independent of the project, because it happens even if I just start with a new projects. AE crash whenever I try to change these settings.
Thanks a lot for any pointer that you guys could give me about this.

It could be that After Effects preferences are corrupt. To start with a clean slate you need to trash them.
Hold down the Command, Shift and Option keys as you start After Effects to restore preferences to their default settings.
