Hey, if I export an MP4 encoded with H264 from AE (or I guess it would be Media Encoder now because they removed the MP4 capability in CC) I’m getting some strange color differences between viewing it in Quicktime vs. say VLC or some other media player. I’m wondering if there is a way to export this format so it doesn’t do this? It is driving me crazy. Can’t seem to figure this out.

or you could try AE’s built in utility color profile converter to get video range from full range video.
    input hd 709 16-235
    output hd 709

    [wyclef chron] ” Quicktime”

Do not use Quicktime player for anything color critical.

This is to be embedded for web and either safari or firefox utilizes quicktime player for the video I believe.

If it’s H.264, there is no need to use QuickTime player. QuickTime is deprecated on Macs and many people have removed QuickTime entirely due to the HUGE security issues with the web components (specifically the player). Most browsers deal with h.264’s without QuickTime at all.
