Ok….This may not be possible. But it just popped into my head, and was wondering if it could be done.
Ok…Say…you have a stage, where a performance is going on…you usually have giant screens on the sides, showing the people etc, from what other cameras are seeing, and then you have another thats flying around the scene. Can this be done in AE?

In other words…you would probably need to lay it out as…you have a solid….and have a camera in the scene….and whatever that camera sees….is whats displayed on that solid….BUT your looking through a different camera entirly…..it would be like…your watching a tv screen of what another camera is viewing…..and…if you moved the camera thats projecting onto the screen…you could watch the screen change dynamically? I don’t know if Im making sense….

Another example would be…..In Half Life 2 the game…you can look at computer screens…and see whats going on in another room in real time……….get it?

Yea…..I kinda figured it would present a problem.
    Was just an idea 😛

Coo idea, cool solution doing the precomp.
But the layered rendering would make interacting with the scene a nightmare, wouldn’t it? If I was doing it, I’d nail down the moves and prerender the movie from the on-stage camera.

I’ll have to try this someday!

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Yeah, don’t give up that easily! Like Dave said, just duplicate your comp, insert a new camera, make that the active one, then nest that in your main comp where the screen should be.

haha…I didnt think this would gather this much attention.
I’ll have to look into this more.
I imagine rendering out your video…then putting it in the comp after its done…would make life a million times easier….but….Yea know…I was thinking real time. *shrugs*

Not doing it for a project or anything….just saw a “stage” and crowd, and performer in a 3d comp….in a video tutorial….and it just popped into my head.

Well…not really real time….but…having more than one camerea in your comp….and having one of the side cameras projecting what it seas onto a “screen of sorts…while you viewing through the “wide angle” camera.

    But…it was just a thought.
