    Hi there

Why does After Effects not recognise newly loaded fonts without a restart of the software?

Seems really crazy that the software can’t see new fonts as they are loaded ie:

You have AE open and your working away, then need a font so load it up using Suitcase, go back to AE and it doesn’t see the new font until you quit and launch AE again.

Come on Adobe sort it out!

    Thanks
    Rory

Quark does, I don’t use Word and I guess Illustrator would be the same as AE as its an Adobe product. Don’t know what you mean by “pages”

my copy of quark doesn’t, but then it’s old….

Pages is apples answer to word and it’s much better and only about $80

it also includes keynote with is like power point should be

btw… if you watch most load up screens for many products you can see loading fonts come up. It’s that way with all adobe products I have. I guess that’s where the problem lies.

It’s not only with Adobe products. Essentially during load, the program scans the font directory in the hard-drive and hence the new fonts only show up once the program is shut down and re-started. The program doesn’t constantly look for new fonts while running.

Photoshop CS reads a newly installed font. You may try closing the project file and then reopen the file, instead of closing the program. I think that worked for me before.

Closing the project file and reopening the file works for me.
I do not have to close the AE
