AE Alpha weirdness

February 17, 2021 at 1:20 pmYesterday a file I have used a bazillion times before started showing a weird thing in the alpha channel, a triangle with a clock symbol that looks like a play button, and the letters “.mov” – floating through. The same file still works on my other system, I have rebooted a couple of times, even reloaded AE from Creative Cloud… ever seen this before? This is a 2013 Mac trashcan running High Sierra and AE 17.1.2
trying to add an image, but not seeing it, hopefully I haven’t added it three times!

February 17, 2021 at 4:24 pmWhat do you mean “floating through”?
Also, that’s…not something I’ve ever seen before. Did something get installed on that system recently?

February 17, 2021 at 5:06 pmDoes the icon appear when playing the file outside of AE?

February 18, 2021 at 1:35 pmI was trying to respond yesterday but was being flagged as spam activity! Anyway, here is an Adobe article talking about this problem, our Avid guys are going to remote in with Adobe today to try and take care of this, so hopefully it is going to be taken care of.

February 22, 2021 at 7:21 pmWell, unfortunately they didn’t figure anything out that I heard anyway, We ended up upgrading the machine to Mojave and reinstalling everything and that took care of the problem… not the answer I was hoping to have, but it got me back working. There was a lot of talk about third-party plug-ins etc, but there were none involved so I don’t know what to think. Anyway, back working, so happy days.
