For some reason Everytime I try to import HDV footage into AE 7.0 I get an error stating that an unspecified AVi or DirectShow error occurred (1) (53::33). I captured the video with no problems using Priemere Pro 2.0.

Any ideas what the hell is going on?

Works here using HDV captured via FCP
    Windows or PPro issues?

You probably need to reconfigure your computer’s MPEG decoder merits. Basically, when you have multiple MPEG decoders on the system, they set their priority for use, and some are incompatible with AE.

Use a program like DSFMgr to make the MainConcept MPEG decoders (which come with AE and PPro) to be the highest priority.

Ok Tim this is what I did. 1) I downloaded & ran DSFMgr. 2) Got confused. I see quite a few compresors for Mpeg 2. 3) I double clicked on the Main Concept (Adobe 2) MPEG Video Encoder and slid he slider from “do not use” to “prefered” then hit “start new merit”. 4) I then did the same for The Mpeg Decoder & closed the program. 5) Started AE 7 & got the same error.

What am I doing wrong? I have never worked with this program before.

    Thanks

I highlighted the Adobe decoder and slid it to the top and then made sure that it kept my new setting and then I restarted, now it works.

    Hey Steve.

    Were you using DSFMgr0.5?

I tryed selecting the Adobe Encoder in both DirectShow Filters, & under the Video Compresors settings but the program wouldn’t let me slide anything.

Yeah, I was using that program. It wasn’t very intuitive, but I played with it for awhile and then it kind of just magically started working. I have no clue why.
