AE 6.5.1 – Exits on Save or Open Existing file
I’ve been working on AE for a while now no problems, and suddenly when I try to open an existing file or create a new comp and hit Save, AE immediately exits. No error msg no log in event view. What has changed is the other day I got a new monitor but that is all.
Also, If I login to my PC as Administrator who has never opened AE before all works fine. Could it be that AE is looking at the old monitor or what? I’ve also made sure I can modify/edit on all of my scratch drives/program drives, etc.
Any thought please!

have you tried using the old monitor?
and have you removed all the old monitor drivers and installed the new ones for the new monitor?
My 6.5.1 Pro works just fine, using a Dell 2405FPW

Try deleting your prefs file – that will probably sort it out.
Launch AE and immediately hit Ctrl-Alt-Shift. AE will ask for confirmation – just click ok.

P.S. Are you using a Matrox card? I started getting this issue when I installed an RTX.100 – my AE prefs kept getting corrupted. When I removed the Matrox video-out driver all the pain stopped.

I just did as you said, deleted the pref file but no good.
Even if I try to import a file it immediately exits. Should I try to reinstall AE?
