  • A.E. 6.5.1 crashes when using Matrox Parhelia 128 GB

    Hello,
I have an Intel (R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80 HHz, 2.81 GHz, 3.25 GB of Ram.
My system is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
I am using Matrox Parhelia 128 MB, and just updated the latest driver, which is 1.10.1.2
I also have a Blackmagic Deck Link Display, which I also udated the latest driver, version 1.2.0.0
I am running my programs using multi screens (2 monitors) and I have a 3rd display monitor.

Basically what’s happening here is, (and not every single time but becoming more frequent), when I am in After Effects, and I am scrubbing through the timeline, or even tapping through the timeline, my computer just shuts down on me. As if I pushed the button to “hard re-boot” the thing. Then my computer boots back up. Sometimes when this happens, the computer actually will corrupt my A.E. file and won’t even let me open it, which results in me loosing hours worth of work.
But it doesn’t corrupt the file all the time.

I am not a technical savvy person, but I think it may have something to do with the video card. It only happens in After Effects, which is the program I use the most.

We re-installed Windows on my computer, thinking maybe there were some viruses that were causing disruption. After I re-installed all my programs and all the udates, it started to do the same exact thing again.

Can anyone help me figure this out?
Has anyone heard of the computer just totally shutting down on them when in A.E.?
    Thanks so much
    Jaime

it is likely an Open GL issue. Try turning off Open GL, or the adaptive resolution under Edit/Preferences/Previews
