AE 6.5 to CS5 questions
Hello. I looked in previous threads but did not see an answer to my question, so I appoligize if this has been asked before.
I recently got a new computer and upgraded from windows XP 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit. AE 6.5 does not seem to work properly and so I am consideing buying AE CS5. I have many projects I do not want to lose (or have time to redo) Will I be able to open and or edit my old 6.5 projects on CS5?
I hope so!
If not is there a way to make 6.5 work properly on windows 7?

Maybe AE 6.5 needs to run in legacy mode
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee851564.aspxCS5 should be able to open all your 6.5 projects as long as you have all the plugins used in the original project.

CS5 can open or import projects created in AE 6.0 or later.

Remember that CS5 is 64-bit, and requires updates to all your plugins. Your current plugins from 6.5 will not work, and must be updated. Some updates are free, some are paid upgrades; it varies by publisher and product.
Also, sometimes vastly different versions of a plugin do not automatically translate and must be redone by hand — see this recent thread Installing older plug-ins [link].
