AE 6.5 Quits on Render
I just moved from a G5 tower to a 24″ intel iMac. Every time I try to initiate a render on the new machine, AE 6.5 instantly quits. I’ve tried to render mulitple files with the same result. I’ve also tweaked memory/output settings and changed target locations without success. I’ve reinstalled AE but that didn’t solve it either. Any ideas?

Hm.
Tried rendering to different codecs?
Tried different source footage?
Tried saving to a TGA sequence?
Tried switching off all effects? -
Well, one glaring issue is that AE 6.5 is a PPC application and you’re running it on an Intel Mac. This works in theory thanks to Rosetta, but can be slow and/or buggy. You should read about running PPC versions of AE on Intel boxes:

If you are moving to an Intel Box permanently, you depend on AE, and you don’t like the headaches then you should definitely consider the $299 upgrade to CS3, it will more than pay for itself in the money you’ll save on aspirin (;
