Any one have issues with using AE 6.5 prof on their power book? No issue but i notice the title protection when clicked, it stays on for a while then disappears. I also noticed that the camera (when moving) disappears and you can not see the path until you un-click..

    Any idea?

I haven’t had any issues on my 15″ Powerbook (the same machine with a smaller screen), but then I don’t really do any intense stuff, like 3D, on it.

The things you are seeing are likely related to the graphics card – AFX is pretty graphics intensive, so I’m not surprised that there’s a lag, or certain elements not displaying all the time. On a system like that, you should expect to take a performance hit somewhere. Even something as simple as your title safe will take a sec to display, especially if you’re trying to display it over a complex comp.

Runs fine on my 2 year-old PB 17″. Not as zippy as my dual-G5 with an x800, but it runs reasonably well. Max out your RAM for better RAM previewing.

How do you max out your ram in AE? I notice each time i boot it up it says 2% of xxxxx..

And if i make these changes will it effect other applications like fcp?

Thanks to all for the responses..

Install as much RAM in your system as you can afford (or it will hold). Also make sure that there is plenty of hard drive space available for the operating system (for caching which speeds performance if there’s not enough RAM). If your hard drive gets too full it can slow down the performance of your apps.
