is it possible to create a comp in AE with 3d layers, save as AE project file, then import that AE project file into Flash with all of the 3d space and 3d layers intact in Flash, then make those 3d Flash layers clickable interactive objects?

    is Flash 3d-capable yet?
if not, how far off is Adobe from achieving this integration?

You can take the layers to Flash, and they will be “clickable”, but they will be video renders of the 3D layers. So, they will be composited according to order in the layer, not according to their 3D coordinates.
In other words, these elements won’t intersect/interact in the same 3D world.

There are workarounds that come to mind. For example, you can have a Pre-Comp version which will go as a single video asset to Flash, so you keep the visual results of 3D interactions of layers, AND also include the 3D layers just to define the interactive hot spots/clickable areas in Flash. It would take some tweaking and I am far from being a Flash expert, but it’s definitely doable.

Flash CS4 introduced basic 3D transformations.
But compositing of elements is 2D (stack-based).
