AE 3D file ..replace?
I need to know if I have this right.
If I render an animation with ‘export 3D file’ on for composting, then import it into After Effects, I get the camera data and all the nulls, lights, etc.
I get that. It works and it works well.
Now, here is my issue. If I go back to C4D, make some changes, then render out the same files including the 3D file, I can’t just replace the 3D file in After effects. Right? AE doesn’t relocate the AE file like it does the footage files, correct?
I actually have to import the new 3D file, make all the changes to the layers of the new composition to match the one I already have in AE manually. Is there any way to just replace the 3D camera data with the old 3D camera data (nulls and all)?
Essentially if the 3D file has been brought in and tweaked in AE then it’s there to stay and there is no easy way to replace the new camera data and null movements. It’s like starting over in AE, right?
If there is a way, please tell me. It would save me a headache and my friends a headache that just realized this. I took it as the norm when I figured it out. Maybe there should be a warning somewhere.
Thanks to all!
