Currently using Adobe Prem Elements v2 to edit HDV from a Sony HVR-V1U. Tried upgrading to Prem. Elem. v4, but quickly found it problematic. Looking for advice as to higher level of editing software. I have read reviews on Premier CS3, Avid Exp Pro, Sony Vegas.

I record church services, and after editing convert to Media Player for palyback from our web site (redhillssbc.org).
Must do multiple tracks, and I want to be able to “mix” left ch and right ch sound together.

Video played through Widows Media Player shows lines with any quick movement of the subject. Trying to upload video that is small enough in size, that it will start to play quickly, and give good quality video. Not sure if this is software related or Media Player related.

Thanks in advance for any response.

I don’t have experience with other editors, just Premiere. So, Premiere Pro gets my biased endorsement. 🙂

Multiple tracks.. Audio channel mixing.. of course.

Regarding the lines you are seeing. It’s probably interlacing.
Usually only DVD players will deinterlace during playback, so you would need to encode for DVD than playback with DVD hardware/software (Power DVD, VLC-DVD).
If your video is only going to be played on desktop, you should deinterlace the footage, that would eliminate the lines.
