Hi all – I’ve been trying to re-create some effects in this video. I just can’t get the organic, natural look that these spiraling lines have. The best example is at the end where the spiral spins around and sort of tightens on the end graphic. COuld someone please point me in the right direction? How would you go about it? I think that 3D stroke could be a way, but i think that would be dodgey.

    Thanks

To be honest, it does look like a 3d stroke effect to me.

Animating the bend, z depth, offset and other factors to create it.

I would start with a straight line as the basis for the stroke. Go to where you want the move to finish and set it up there. Then move back to where you want the animation to start and set up that part. Scrub through and tweak as required.

any advice I give is from my limited experience, therefore probably wrong…

It looks to me as if the coil doesn’t tighten, but moves away from camera instead.
