Advice on Platform for After Effects Freelancing
I know this post might fit better in Platform Wars, but I wanted advice specifically from AE users/freelancers.
I’ve made a fairly recetnt decision to get into Motion Graphics and try to freelance. I just got a new PC as a gift so I decided to shell out the money for CS3 master creative suite (previously on very old versions) since I didn’t have to put it into my computer. But now I’m having extreme regrets about this choice since my first and only client thus far is FCP/Mac based. It hasn’t been a problem until now, they would like to use Apple ProRes on an animation, which obviously I can’t deliver.
I believe I can work with Adobe to get Mac version of CS3 with little expense, but do you think it is worth changing my whole system and going Mac? (the biggest problem being expense) Or is there an option to deliver something similar with my PC?
P.S. You may ask why I am on PC at all. Throughout college I used 3DS Max and have stayed with it, but I have had thoughts of learning Maya now too. I do believe the Platform War has created some major internal turmoil for me, shouldn’t they feel a little guilty 🙂
