Advice needed with Sony Vegas 11 Render setting please?
So I need help choosing the right render settings for my video. The Video is 2.5 hours long and its full HD however I rendered it as a AVI 720p but after 5 hours it stopped as the file came up to 240gb. Therefore I need a good setting so that it will be still HD but atleast a good file size like 13GB, is that possible for a 2.5 hours video? Thanks.

Bitrate –> Filesize.
The higher the birtrate, the larger the filesize.

What is your delivery format? We can’t suggest a template unless we know how you are doing to deliver it. Internet? DVD? Blu-ray? Media Server?
AVI is probably NOT the format you want if you want it to be small. Without knowing more I would recommend MainConcept AVC with the Internet HD 720p template for small yet high quality HD video.

Well the delivery format was gonna be on USB played on the hd player thing. I mean i tried doing internet HD 720p but the rendering process is going over 20 hours. I think am just quit on Sony Vegas.

Have you read the User’s Guide to the “hd player thing”? What formats does it support? You need to render to one of the supported formats so if, for example, you are rendering to Sony YUV AVI file, the chance of it working on an “hd player thing” are nil!

Perhaps you need a more powerful computer. Content creation typically requires an Intel Core i7 class machine. Is that what you have? Do you have a powerful GPU that can assist the rendeting? The MainConcept AVC encoder is GPU anabled.

If the render is slow because your computer cannot handle encoding AVC/H.264 which, BTW, is what most “hd player things” expect, then any software is going to take a long time to render.

Well my computer is old. its a intel core 2 duo 2Ghz, 4GB memory Well am just gonna see what I can do then

Yea, so it’s going to take a long time regardless of what software you buy.
