Advice Needed by Advanced Amateur re DVX 100 purchase – Please
I am having a tough time making a decision whether to purchase the DVX100A, the DVC30 or (less likely) the Sony VX2100. I know this is an old dilemma for high level amateurs
but each of us have different needs. I do alot of travel videography (pseudo-documentaries!) and hate travelling with a tripod. Add to that a slight hand tremor and image stabilization
quality becomes important. I also do a lot of work with teachers and students professionally, videotaping them in action in classrooms, handheld taping, hoping not to be overly intrusive.
For all of this composition is also important and so a good viewfinder (not just a good LCD screen) is important. So I want high quality images, good sound, but with those other factors weighed in.And, somewhere down the line I have a fantasy of making a little documentary about a school.
My key reservations about the DVX100a, besides the price, are: portability, quality of viewfinder, ease of rapid candid shooting, and image stabilization.
I know how good it is, the questions are: will the weight and size be counter-productive, and are these other characteristics any better on the DVX than the other two camcorders? There, is that contorted enough?
Any help appreciated.
