What would the experts recommend for rough cutting P2 material?

I’ve been an Apple evangelist for many years, however they seem to be systematically making it harder to work with P2 in the field. Snow Leopard bricked the Duel adapter. The new laptops have limited port options. Final Cut Express doesn’t support P2. I’m truly disappointed in the direction they are taking.

It would make business sense to give people an inexpensive option to log, capture and rough cut in the field…

Any advice? What’s working for Mac users these days? (please don’t start a Mac/pc debate… my question is specifically around Macs and P2)

    Thanks

I would suggest getting an older/original MacBookPro or even a G4 laptop. The older MacBookPro will give you the firewire and USB connections to connect the camera and external hard drives. A used G4 laptop will give you a slot to accept the P2 card itself.
