I want to take a composite signal from an old VHS camera and put it into the KI PRO DECK. I know the KI PRO only has component inputs. Is it really as simple as just plugging it into the Green Component – or do I have to use a Composite to Component converter?

If I do have to use a composite to component converter – what’s the best (and the cheapest..)?

It seems a little pointless to convert a composite signal only to have the KI convert it again, but if it must be done – I’d like to know how to do it cheaply.

    Hi JG,

I also want to try to use the old camera which has only composite output , convert it to component or SDI.. and record with Kipro.

Have you try the way…” How good is the quality we can get with this ? ”

Can we still say we get 10 bit video with it ?

Thank you for the share JG

    Best Regards
    Alex

It’s still going to originate from a composite signal, even if you convert it to a higher bandwidth video signal.

Quality would depend on a number of factors, but my guess is

the comp signal is limited in resolution based on the camera but most likely less than 200 lines

your colorspace is also limited in Composite mode vs component.
