Ok I’m going to pose this question to both you guys and the Premiere Pro guys and see which answer is more convincing…
I am about to begin work on a large scale editing project (feature length) and I cant decide which editing software to use. I own a Dell Inspiron 9200 laptop with premiere pro and a Mac G4 desktop with final cut 3. Which of these two systems would you use and why? Any advice is apreciated.

First off, if you’re going to use FCP for a large scale project, you want to upgrade to a G5 and FCP 5.0. FCP 3 is a clunker compared to the new version.

Second, on this forum of course people are going to suggest FCP so that’s a no brainer.

All I can say is that I’ve cut on Media 100, AVID and Final Cut Pro and for my money, there is no better NLE out there than FCP. Been cutting with it for four years, have 4 or 5 various FCP cutting stations from portable to uncompressed HD, have won numerous national awards with projects off the box and am now cutting a national broadcast series in high def. The system works and it works well enough to grow my business year to year.

There was one sitting in a barn in my little Vermont town for years. The new home owner didn’t know what it was. 🙂
