Advanced Lightning Expression
I am trying to get the Advanced Lightning plugin to animate along the outline of an image so that it looks like the object is being “traced” by lightning. I know you can control the endpoint of the lightning with an expression but I’m having trouble remembering exactly how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

If the layer you want to trace is outlined by a mask, paste that mask into the position property of a Null, spread the resulting keyframes out to the timing you want, select the “Strike” lightning type, and apply this expression to the Direction parameter:
fromComp(thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).position)
