Advanced AVID tutorials
Hey guys and gals,
Wondering if you could push me in the right direction.
I have some freelance work coming up using media composer. Im largely self taught.
Avid was the first NLE I ever used, but I’ve never felt 100% in control of it.
There are several fundamental things I still can’t control the way I want to with Avid like time
remapping/speed changes, disolves, trimming a couple of layers in the timeline without
pushing everything else out of sync (under some circumstances.)
Can anyone suggest a good book or web resource to check out to bring me up to speed?Thanks

I really like the Avid discs (https://www.avidstore.com/us/index.cfm?page=templates/product_index&categoryid=42). I’ve also got a disc (for the life of me, I can’t remember who puts it out)on Marquee. Steve Bayes has what many consider THE book on the Avid (https://www.amazon.com/Avid-Handbook-Intermediate-Techniques-Information/dp/0240805534). It’s full of info – everytime I pick it up, I learn or remember something.

Thanks for the input guys,
Have checked out Steve Bayes stuff and it looks like what I’m after.
Also taking a gamble on one of the on the spot books. Have read them for after-effects and final cut and they’ve provided heaps of good tips.Cheers
