    any good?

not really into effects, not much call in doco’s, but have been approached to do some cheap ad’s and promo’s for a client who thinks page turns and explosinons equate to good video. not worth arguing.

    suggestions?

Adorage has MANY good transitions if you’re looking for the 80’s style transitions. Think “Tool Time” and their tool transitions. However, there’s much more to it than that as well.

    thanks edward.

do you have any other suggestions? i don’t really want to spend a huge amount on this, but if i’m going to have to bite the bullet, i’d like a sweet tasting one please.

You might want to check out WAX first. You can find it at https://www.debugmode.com and it can add many effects and the price is FREE.

    thanks again edward.

i’ve actually tried loading wax a few times – it worked in 4, had a couple of hic-ups in 5, and doesn’t seem to like 6 at all.

truth is, i hardly gave it a chance since the little i saw of the effects were somewhat cheesey. but for this new client….

anything i should be aware of loading it onto an intel running version 6c? what do i do about ram preview / dummy media? if you tell me to rtfm, i’ll understand you, but not the manual!

    as ever,

Make sure you load the most current version (e???) as it is supposedly updated to work with Vegas 6.

i did – 2.0e, but it doesn’t seem too happy. occassional freezes, 50/50 chance of seeing preview, and other weirdness. pity, cause i remember effects from 4 and they were pretty good, especially, as you say, for free.

since i’m happy as things are with my black box, (okay, i conceed, the beige was pretty awful after 15 years or so), i’m not going to go looking for trouble by troubleshooting a free plugin. i’ll just watch the groups till either the noise forces a new release, or wait till 2.0f is released in due course.

either way, it’s bloody fantastic that people not only write plug-ins in general, but that they do them so well, and in the case of sl luminence, hit the missing nail on the head…

    thanks again,

where did you turn off 3d? (i haven’t reloaded wax yet, is there a 3d setting in it, or are you writing about video drivers?)

    many thanks,

Go to start, programs, debugmode, and I think there was a settings tab. Just turn off the 3D hardware thingy. It made the program run a lot better but It still has issues and I un-installed it.
