Adobe Premiere Rendering Issue
Hello…I hope I can explain this clearly…here it goes
So I am a content provider for a fashion network. I have been successfully providing content for about 2 years now. I use Adobe Premiere Pro 6 and have never had an issue with my rendering. Now, all of the sudden, when I render a video, it seems to be skipping around, almost as if frames are skipping.
The station referred to it as “dropped frames.” When I research dropped frames it seems to be from computers or drives which are not powerful enough to render HD video. However, I have been rendering for years now and do not see how, all of the sudden, I cannot render correctly.
Also, the footage was shot at 29.97 frames but the provider requests it at 25fps. Can this have something to do with it? Like I said, I have been providing content and rendering at 25fps for years so I cannot see how that could be the issue.
So I am confused on wether it is an issue with my computer/software…or if it is because of being filmed at 29.97fps and I’m rendering at 25fps.
I am running Mac OSX 10.7.5
Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
8GB 1067 MHz DDR3 ramRunning Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 version 6.0.0
I am shooting on a Canon 60D. Video was captured at 29fps.
Please forgive my ignorance to any issues and I appreciate your help!

You can’t put 29.97fps footage on a 25fps sequence without interpreting it to 25 as you will have this problem. It’s skipping frames to play at 25. In fcp you would have had to use cinema tools but in premiere you can right click source footage select interpret footage and choose 25fps. I’m confused as to why no one has noticed this before, what was your workflow previously?

Wow! Yes I must admit I am new to filming but luckily what creativity I did have was able to land me the job! So I am very new to all of this…I also cannot believe this went on for song long without being noticed….they did just clear house and hire all new staff and THEN it was brought up so perhaps the previous quality control team didn’t know what they were doing.

My workflow honestly never changed. That’s why I was so confused because all of the sudden they weren’t accepting the videos (even though it ended up being my own fault!)
Another question, though…the wrong way that I’ve been doing it (using 29fps footage in the 25fps sequence)…if I then rendered at 29 out of that sequence…will the skipping still be there? If I choose to render the 29fps footage at 29fps even though its in a 25fps timeline?

Glad to help. To answer your question I don’t know, never tried that but I imagine it would give you odd results/timing. I would suggest shooting 25fps and keeping it all 25fps.
