I have been using Adobe Premiere Pro v.7.0 with the Matrox RT.X 100Xtreme for over a year with complete success. Recently my system has thrown up some hardware failures that have resulted in an new mainboard (Microstar 7025), CPU (AMD Athlon 64 3200+), memory (1Gb DDR 400) and graphics display card (Radeon X100 Pro). These are all upgrades compared with the previous set-up.

A system disc reformat and Windows re-install (XP Professional with SP2) was necessary at one point. I think I did things in the right order

AMD based motherboards are so TOTALLY not recommended for RTx100’s.

There’s an issue with PCI bandwidth that’s difficult to resolve on AMD based systems. It’s one of the reasons why Matrox has 2 approved AMD boards on their list.

Check this list for approved Matrox hardware configurations.

They have a PCI Optimizer that MAY help resolve this issue, but it’s not a guarantee like switching hardware. A P4 based system is going to be your best bet with the Matrox hardware.

Here’s a link to the PCI optimizer. I am not guaranteeing that any of this will work, but it’s worth a shot.

My ultimate recommendation would be to change hardware, but I know that’s not always feasible for homebrew systems.

Many thanks for your quick reply to my problem, Aaron. I must admit to being a bit depressed by your comments to start with. However, I downloaded the PCI Optimizer from Matrox as you suggested and, you know what, it worked!

So I hope I will be able to get along with my incompatible hardware – I haven’t yet found any other malfunctions.

    Thanks again.

    Best wishes

    Malcolm

I would like to try the PCI-Optimiser but there is no link on the post.

I’ve had similar problems but a re-install of Premier and the Matrox drivers seemed to help.

No, there wasn’t. I Googled for it and found it on this page of the Matrox site: https://www.matrox.com/video/support/rtx10hw/rec/storage.cfm
There is a link in the text four paragraphs after the daigram, under the heading “Using serial ATA controllers”. Although the reference is for RTX10, it worked fine for me.
