Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 lags or only plays a couple frames from an MXF episode?
Hi all, I am working on my mac book pro 17inch laptop with 2.2 Ghz intel core I7 processor and a 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory, I only have this machine available for the current project. I am editing MXF episode on premiere pro CS6 and the video is giving me a hard time it either doesn’t play at all, or lags or plays a couple of frames. I am using a 2 TB Lacie hard drive to work off of but with still no luck. Any suggestion or any help would be highly appreciated because currently I am at a halt.

Hi Hadeel,
Saying MXF is like saying I have a fast car – it doesn’t really tell you anything. MXF is a container that can have many different things inside it, just like Quicktime can.
If you’re having problems, I am guessing that the video essence is something like AVC-Intra 50 or 100 which is more challenging to decode than something like DVCPro100.
Two suggestions for you.
1 – 4GB is just not enough, period. With that laptop, you can expand the RAM to 16GB. You really should expand to 8GB at a minimum. This should make a difference
2 – In the program and source views, there is a pull down option towards the bottom that may be saying ‘full’. Consider taking that down to ‘1/2’ and see if that helps youThe other thing to check out or at least verify is that your hard drive is adequately sending you the frames. Check to make sure the drive is fast enough.
