I have 5K RED footage, dropped into a 1920×1080 sequence. I move the anchor point on the RED image, and then zoom in and out. When it gets past the 50% scaling threshold, the image position goes out of whack. You see, as soon as I go beneath 50% it jumps.

How do I get around this? Is this a bug?

Have you tried working with and without the Mercury Hardware Engine? I know some instance where hardware rendering bugged out for us.

    Erik:

Thanks. Switching to software only DOES solve the problem. However, given the beastly 5k footage, and I’m working off a laptop, not sure I want to work in software only…. Pros and cons.

For now, just avoiding crossing that 50% threshold. Hope ADOBE fixes this bug!

    Brian,

What laptop do you have? I ask because the Intel Iris Pro GPU, on the Retina MacBook Pro (among others) isn’t truly properly supported by Adobe yet. They offered support a couple of releases ago, but it’s still quite buggy (Warp Stabilizer doesn’t work, for example, and crashes can occur). If you also have Iris Pro, that would be another example of bugginess with this GPU. Hopefully Adobe can fix this soon. In the meantime, you–like me–will be stuck in software-only mode.

My GPU is NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB, MacBook Pro, Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013

    Warp stabilizer works fine.

I found another better solution – apparently nesting the clip gets around this scaling bug. So when I do need to scale a clip at 40-50% I am nesting.
