Adobe Premiere is running very slow

My working criteria is HD video editing. recently I purchased a workstation, I am using adobe cs5.5 on it. I am getting so much problem with the performance of premiere, just like it freezes while dragging on timeline, rendering speed is very slow, previews are freezing. can anybody suggest me what i can do to improve it?

We need more info:

What kind of footage are you working with? What is your hard disk setup? Is Premiere up to date?

From the info you’ve posted there, upgrading your GPU is probably going to help. The Quadro 2000 is a rather weak card. Get a GTX 500 series. (or perhaps the new GTX680… not technically supported yet, but it apparently works with the text file hack.)

Whether that’s the limiting factor or not will depend on the other parts of your computer, and what kinda footage you’re pushing through them.

Dear Todd Kopriva,

I tried this link, but not getting anything satisfactiry result.

here are more details about my work.
My premiere is uptodate

I am an Editor in Advertising Agency and you can imagine that I have to work on all kind of formats and sizes of footages like currently I am working on 720*576 (1.4587) 25fps HD pal.
I am using some TGA footages also for titling exported from adobe after effects, there are 5-6 video layers.

I have upgraded my GPU.

and my disk setup is .. there is 1TB hard disk with 4 partition.

still no improvement in performance.

I think you need a raid system with at least 2 disks to allow the Mercury Engine to perform as you need.
