  • Adobe Premiere CS6 – Imported footage is brighter?

Posted by Cl Beu on March 21, 2013 at 6:10 am

Hey y’all, just imported some footage into Adobe Premiere CS6, and the footage seems to be significantly brighter than when I view the same (untouched) footage in Daum PotPlayer. Any clue as to the reason why, and how to revert it back?

    Thanks a million

    Never heard of the player.
I would go for VLC player.

Its not the video player that is the issue. The source footage is brightened when its imported into CS6 for some reason…

This suggestion comes from Matrox for users of the MXO2 hardware with CS6, maybe it will help you?

…on a system that has an NVIDIA display card, use your display card’s control panel to set the dynamic range for video to full. In the NVIDIA Control Panel under Video, select Adjust video color settings. In the displayed dialog box, select With the NVIDIA settings, click the Advanced tab, and from the
Dynamic range list, select Full (0-255)

    Thanks

Hmm, thanks for the response. I tried what you recommended, as I do have an nvidia graphics card, but when I play the clip in Premiere it is still significantly brighter than the same source clip when its played outside of Premiere…

Welcome to QuickTime’s “Gamma Shift.” This article should help you fix this issue: https://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2008/06/fix-quicktime-gamma-shift/

Wait, except, this is for a file after its been edited? My problem is that the file looks more washed out in Adobe Premiere, while the gamma is correct outside of Premiere CS6
