adobe premiere 6 question

Hi I have a workstation with premiere 6 on it(windows 2000) has a storm board in it. I was able to get total training for premire 6 recently.

I wanted to watch the training dvds on my living room tv and follow on my laptop
(this being the easiest way) but I don’t get a regular preview(win xp) on my laptop when I click on the monitor window to play the initial frame goes black. audio plays okay the same thing happens on the clip windows. I have gone into project settings and I did notice when I turnoff camcorder preview it greys out the play back on desktop. I do not have this problem on my workstation . The clips on laptop sometimes play back visually when I am fooling with transparency and motion controls
