  • Adobe Premiere 5.5 hangs on load–temp fix

After installing the Production Premium 5.5 I suddenly developed a problem with Premiere, it would begin the load and then suddenly just disappear. Adobe solved it at least temporarily by having me create a new User Account, and now it comes up. Apparently it is some sort of Windows 7 permission problem but the tech person did not know exactly what kind of problem.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I now live in fear that the system is somehow unstable and it will jump up and bite me at the exact wrong time.
Meanwhile if anyone is having a similar problem…the new user account will help.

    Hi Harvey,

Try holding down the SHIFT key before/during launch of Premiere, usually does the trick.

    Thanks Jeff.

I tried that because as you say it usually works but it didn’t in this case.

I’m debating whether to just use the new User Account or to try reinstalling Premiere. I worry that reinstalling may make the situation worse.

What really worries me is how this happened to begin with.

I figure out the conflict…it is between Premiere 5.5 and Matrox Utilities for the Matrox MX02 LE. Now I have to figure out why.
