    Hi,

I’m trying to import ProRes HQ 1920×1080 25fps Quicktime files into Adobe Media Encoder and it just brings up a dialogue saying the format is not supported. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? I’ve tried dragging and dropping files, as well as clicking on the + symbol. Do I need a plug-in of some kind? I’ve also had issues with DVCPRO HD Quicktimes, but some of these work and some don’t even though they’re encoded the same.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

Have you installed FCP on this machine?
If not, you might not have the prores codec.
Can you play this QT file in QT?

    Hi Chris,

Yes I have FCP installed and yes the files work in Quicktime.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

[Benjamin Mullins] “Yes I have FCP installed and yes the files work in Quicktime.”
    FCPX or FCP6-7?

I just encountered this problem on Media Encoder CC. Turned out that I needed to add the extension .mov to my files before Encoder would accept them.

Ling Ly figured it out… add the extension.

When batch exporting from FCP 7, settings: set naming options: add file extension.

Without the file extension adobe media encoder will not accept the file.
