I’m encoding video from Adobe CS4 Premiere through the Adobe Media Encoder. Encoding as h.264 for playback through Ooyala. The .mp4 out of Media Encoder does not have an initial key frame, which makes the first few frames of the Ooyala encoded flash video garbage. Any idea why I’m not getting an initial key frame?

    thanks.

How do you know it doesn’t have an initial keyframe?

What is your workflow for going from Premiere to AME?

Ooyala techs told me there wasn’t an initial key frame.
After I finish the video, I export to the Media Encoder. Settings are:
    Format: H.264
    NTSC 480 x 270 30 fps progressive
    Square pixels
    Profile Maine
    Level 3.1
    VBR 2 pass
    Target 3 Mbps
    Max 6 Mbps

As far as I’m concerned there HAS to be a keyframe, it’s just the way things work. I can’t think of a way of producing a transcode without one at the beginning.

I don’t disagree, BUT what is arriving at Ooyala is missing a key frame at the beginning of the video — so it’s being stripped out somewhere.
