  • Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 not as good as Media Encoder CC

Posted by John Grilli on July 9, 2014 at 12:28 am

    Interesting finding today.,….
I encoded the same movie both in Media Encoder CC and Media Encoder CC 2014 and the one done with Media Encoder CC was far superior. Less noise and much more consistant. Both were using the default Vimeo HD 1920X1080 29.97 setting. Has anyone else noticed this? It’s a shame that the new version outputs worse looking movies than the previous. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Have the default settings for the preset changed?

Was CC 2104 set to use the GPU while CC was set to use software-only? This is just a guess, but that might account for the difference.

All settings were identical, try a test for yourself. I took a pro-rez movie, placed it both programs and let them go. There is a difference on my machine, what about yours?

CC14 has a bug in exporting to mp4.

Red Giant claims they fixed compatibility with CC 2014 as of June 19th

But their own Link software to provide updates isn’t compatible with the plugs I just purchased: Frames and Instant HD

    John,

I reported this and we’re investigating this. I don’t think it is related to what Ann mentioned to you. However, the AME team is looking into it. Stay tuned.
