Adobe Encoder CS4 option
Posted by Joe Feng on February 26, 2009 at 5:43 pmHi,
I’ve recently upgraded my Adobe Production Premium from CS3 to CS4, after which, the option to export FLV from within FCP has disappeared.
Does anyone know how to get it back? I’ve even tried to uninstall the new Adobe Encoder and put back the CS3 version, but it would not allow me to do so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Joe
p.s. I’ve found one other post regarding this, but no solution was given.

February 26, 2009 at 5:57 pmYou should take this question to the Premiere Pro forum.
All the best,

February 26, 2009 at 8:10 pmThat’s funny! 🙂 It’s like bringing your Chevy to a Volkswagen
dealer for repair because you also own a VW.

February 26, 2009 at 9:06 pmSo, you’re saying I should bring my broken VW to a Buick dealer? My head is hurting…
Seriously though, the issue I’m having is inside Final Cut Pro, so I thought the logical place to post the question would be the Final Cut Pro forum, no?

February 26, 2009 at 9:35 pmSorry, it just struck me as funny. Can’t help directly, but do you know that CS4 installed the QuickTime Exporter plug-in? That’s what allows FCP and QT (and other QT apps) to export to FLV.

February 26, 2009 at 10:28 pmYes, I know that CS3 installed the exporter, but CS4 didn’t. Was hoping that some other Final Cut users might be able to give me some pointers on how to get it back.

March 2, 2009 at 3:38 pmHey Joe,
Within Adobe Media Encoder, there is the ability to create a watch folder, so that when you output to quicktime from FCP, you can automatically trigger the encode to FLV within AME. So perhaps the first place to start is exploring AME.

April 3, 2009 at 2:16 pmScott,
Here’s what I did to get the exporter back inside FCP. I went to the suite next door, which still runs CS3, and copied the file named “FLV.component” (found under Library/Quicktime/) and simply put it in the corresponding folder on my box, restarted FCP, and voila, everything is back to normal!
Hope this helps.

April 4, 2009 at 3:19 amI’ve searched the adobe site for that file. Can’t find it anywhere. Would be great to resolve this after a good few hours researching it online…odd that there is such and easy solution.
Would it be possible for you to send it to me so I can give it a try?
