Brilliant! Thanks so much for this tip, worked like a charm for me after uninstalling a portion of the CS3 bundle but keeping all of CS4. This trick solved my Premiere CS4 to Media Encoder CS4 problems.

    Amazing knowledge…
Whoever came up with that shortcut idea is simply a genius!
I mean how could you think of something like that?
    WOW…
    Fantastic thinking.

    Thanks a million times.
As everybody is saying, it works like a charm.

    GOD Bless.

Amazing solution!!! How can you know that? Who are you? I am really really thankful. I want to give back to you somehow. Please let me know. I had very same problem that delayed my work for weeks and I even installed Pinnacle studio, which is nice but not as nice as Premiere. Thanks again.

Works for After effects too, just make sure your shortcut is the same name as the executable, so in this case it’s AfterFX.

I was trying to render a comp out of Media Encoder and would get the dynamic link error when choosing the AE project. Moving the shortcut (in my case to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclink since I’m on 64bit) worked like a charm. Pretty slick. Thanks again.

Have the same problem cause i am running AEX, PPro CS4&5 on one machine. In the beginning it worked fine by using the replacing mehtod, but since a couple of weeks it doesnt. I need both versions to be able to edit older projects containing Canopus HQ Footage which doesnt work on CS5.

I got it managed to run CS4 and CS5 on one machine with full encoder functionality:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclink

The content is one CS5 folder, which is correct. Dont touch!

The other files are mismatching links which get confused by installing CS5 after CS4. check the shortcut’s directory with right mouse click and copy the After Effects and Premiere Folder containing the .exe to the directory which is displayed in the error box, when trying to follow the link.

    Once done, everything works fine…

A little sad that there is no possibility to get it easier like maxxon supports, i.e.

    Enjoy dualism.
