I would like to take the Adobe Certification Exam for After effects 7.0. when I tried to register, I contacted Pearson VUE or Thomson Prometric from this site:

    https://www.adobe.com/support/certification/ace_certify.html

I learned that the available certification exam for After Effects is only version 6.0 while the rest of the adobe software is updated (such as Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2)! Isn’t it that one should be certified with the latest version, that is, 7.0? Where should I take this issue?

In my experience, the ACE exams have always been behind the software release, since releasing the software is the prioity above designing the Certification exam.
    You should contact Adobe.

The way the ACE exams are managed on Adobe’s side is a farce. They’re always late. As it is 6.5 has been out for a long long time and they still haven’t updated their exam. 6.0, as you say, is the current exam on offer.

Don’t expect anything great to happen to you after you pass the exam. Unless, you plan to teach, it is largely meaningless. My experience has been that other than having your name up at the Adobe site, you shouldn’t expect any other support from Adobe.

The local Adobe office here in Singapore doesn’t make it a practice to publicise courses run by certified instructors. You’re really on your own in terms of marketing your courses. Companies with uncertified instructors but with a bigger marketing budget can easily obtain more students.

    My .02.

I think the Photoshop CS2 Exams came out about 5 months after the software release, so you might expect the same for AE. I got my certification for 6.0 and while I don’t teach (not formally anyway) the exam is a great way to force yourself to dig through and read the manual front to back which is ALWAYS a good thing. If nothing else, passing the exam is a great goal to set for yourself…and you learn alot about the software.
    Good luck!

Adobe should license the COW to set the exams. Things will happen faster and the exams will be even more useful. I’m not too certain of the other Adobe softwares but the AE exams are certainly a farce. They take way too long to appear. It’s just ridiculous.
