  • Adobe Bridge CS5 Camera RAW adjustments are not being applied to photos

When I try and edit a CR2 Raw Canon Raw File in Adobe Bridge using the camera raw function it will not apply the changes after I click done. I am not sure as to what this could be because I remember it working fine before then suddenly camera raw will not save any changes.

I’ve run into this with caching issues: https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/cache-bridge-cs4-cs5.html

Basically, just reset your cache. It can take a while. Do the images open okay in Photoshop if you choose open?

Will deleting the Cache damage or affect anything?

It won’t delete image settings, but it will delete your previews so it will have to re-render all of the previews which will take time (depending on your machine). You’ll notice when you hit a folder with a lot of pictures.

I reset the Cache but still changes that I have made in camera Raw are not applied?

Well, it could be that it’s still catching up. Are the changes showing when you open the file? If so, its just a matter of waiting for it to catch up to all the previews it has to generate. No, I don’t know how long it takes, but it takes a while. If the changes aren’t showing when you reopen the file, then it’s not saving the file and its another issue entirely.

OK I moved the cache folder to a different location onto another internal HDD with more space but the old cache folder is still on the old HDD, should I just delete it or try moving the old cached files across to the new folder?

Also will deleting the cache delete any of the photos or the changes that I applied to the photos in camera raw?

Hey there, I was flipping through my Photoshop CC prefs when I came across the Adobe Cam Raw settings:

Photoshop >> Preferences >> File Handling >> Camera Raw Preferences >> adjust settings, clear cache, etc.

    I completely forgot about these.

It shouldn’t – the cache is just temp files not meant to be stored or used other than to speed up things. Once the cache is cleared and you start using files, the cache will be recreated with new preview images. It’ll take some time.
