    Hi,

The Adobe “AppData” folder (a hidden folder contained in my User folder on my Windows 7 PC) is 72GB!

I just received a warning that my C drive is running out of space, and this AppData folder is the culprit. Can I delete files in this Adobe folder? I did some Google searches and the solutions are confusing or conflicting sometimes.

Thanks in advance for any help, Donovan

    Hi there,

The default location for Premiere/AME/AE/Encore to store the pek (audio peak), cfa (conformed audio – uncompressed audio from compressed sources), and related intermediate/accelerator files is here:
\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache and Media Cache Files

So long as none of the said applications are running, you can freely delete these two directories, and they’ll be recreated on next launch. However, since this is where these accelerator files are shared, they’ll be recreated next time you import a source that needs one.

For example, in Premiere you can change where these files are stored by going to Edit > Preferences > Media, and change the Media Cache Files for example. Media Cache stores .mcdb files which is the relationship between the media and the accelerator.

    Cheers,
    -EricS

There’s some more information about the media cache files that Eric refers to here.
