Adobe After Effects version 7.0-Cutting Down on Rendering Time
Whenever I try to render my composition, it takes anywhere from 20-45 minutes depending on the length of the document. I’ve compressed the file but it still takes forever to render! Is there anything else I can do to cut down on this time?

that is possibly the correct render time – it all depends on how complex(and size and duration) your composition is. I’m working on a project at the moment that is taking about 6hours to render 30seconds. Effects like motion blur/3d space/lights/fractal noise/etc all increase render times. There are a number of ways to cut down on render times (such as using proxies), but they are more of a workflow thing, rather than a render settings thing.
I’d suggest just doing RAM previews or low-res renders during the day, then let your hi-res one render overnight.
