Error cannot normalize zero vector 17::50.

The error occurs in a precomp with 5 layers with moving masks in each layer. At the time it gives the error, there are no mask key frames and the preview goes blank.

I have one simple PSD that gives anamorphic black bars (one layer) as a guide layer, but removing that makes no difference.

I can’t find any reference to the error on google.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I can’t imagine what could cause this to happen, but in order to isolate the problem:
Try switching off one layer at a time to see which layer is causing the error.
Once found (hopefully only one layer), try turning off/deleting the mask to see if that is the cause.
If it is then either nudge the mask a pixel or so or remake the mask to see if the error goes away.
If not the mask then there may be a problem with your footage for that layer, on that frame.

I was able to isolate the mask causing the problem. I had used keyframe interpolate as well as the new vertex feather tool. Not sure which one messed it up, but I redid the mask and now it works fine.

    Thanks.
